Pefkos — also known as Pefki — is a small, pine-fringed beach village tucked just south of Lindos on the east coast of Rhodes. Its name comes directly from the Greek word for pine tree, and the fragrance of the surrounding pine forest is one of the first things you notice on arrival. This gentle, unhurried village has retained its character as a genuine retreat for families and couples who want something quieter than the big resort towns.

The beaches at Pefkos are among the most sheltered on the island. The main beach curves softly around a shallow bay with calm, clear water — ideal for children and relaxed swimming. Several smaller coves are accessible on foot or by boat, offering moments of near-total seclusion even in peak season. The village itself has a modest strip of tavernas, cafés, and small shops that keep things simple and sociable without ever feeling crowded.

Pefkos enjoys an excellent position for exploring the southern half of Rhodes. Lindos, with its iconic Acropolis perched dramatically above the sea, is less than ten minutes away. The ancient city's whitewashed alleyways, Byzantine church, and sweeping views over St Paul's Bay are not to be missed. Further south, the road leads to untouched villages and empty beaches that most package tourists never reach.

The 52 km drive from the airport along the east coast road is one of the most rewarding routes on the island, and arriving in Pefkos after 45–55 minutes feels like stepping into a different, slower world entirely.
